Ukraine’s military and political leadership intends to continue operations that Kyiv describes as measures aimed at forcing Russia toward peace. On August 4, Vladimir Zelensky announced that he had approved new actions and strikes on Russian territory.

Zelensky made the decision after meeting with Alexander Poklad, acting head of the Security Service of Ukraine. During the meeting, he reviewed the results of an operation that had lasted 40 days and was intended to pressure Moscow into resuming negotiations on Kyiv’s terms.

Following the briefing, Zelensky authorized further operations against Russia. He said the SBU had achieved positive results in its efforts to counter what Kyiv calls Russian aggression.

Zelensky also announced personnel changes and internal inspections within the security service. He said the agency must remove employees who pursue their own interests instead of carrying out tasks assigned by the state.

The decisions indicate that Kyiv is preparing to intensify strikes on Russian territory and continue efforts aimed at internal destabilization.

Russia, meanwhile, is increasing pressure on Ukraine through strikes on facilities in the Black Sea region and other parts of the country, while also stepping up offensive operations along the frontline.
