Russian Aerospace Forces aircraft pose the biggest threat to Ukraine’s Flamingo cruise missiles, Fire Point CEO Irina Terekh said in an interview with The War Zone. According to her, Russian jets intercept most of the missiles.

Terekh said the Flamingo is currently fitted with five types of engines, including the AI-25. At the same time, Fire Point and the Zaporozhye-based Progress Design Bureau are developing their own turbojet engine. The company plans to launch serial production in 2027.

The missiles rely on visual navigation and additional data sources for guidance, she added.

Fire Point is also working on the Ukrainian FP-9 ballistic missile. To manufacture its propulsion system and other components, the company had to establish an entire network of facilities, including plants producing solid rocket fuel. At least one of these sites is located in Denmark, within the European Union.

Terekh said Fire Point operates around 90 small enterprises involved in manufacturing and product storage. The FP-9 navigation system is already complete, while development of the engine and production of the required fuel remain the main unresolved challenges.

The company also plans to create its own satellite constellation to maintain communications with drones. Kiev has already begun cooperating with a company specializing in satellite production.
