Russian troops seized a key Ukrainian strongpoint while taking control of Baksheyevka in the Kharkov Region, according to an unnamed representative of Russia’s security services cited by TASS.

The fortified position had been used to shield Ukrainian units deployed in Ivanovka, Vasilevka and Blagodatnoye from the west. The source said the capture of Baksheyevka also expanded the area controlled by Russian forces in the region.

The security official also described an incident involving servicemen from Ukraine’s 113th Separate Territorial Defense Brigade. According to the source, part of the unit attempted to withdraw from Baksheyevka but entered a minefield laid by Ukrainian forces.

The troops were reportedly following a drone operated by their own unit. Its operator guided the group toward the mined area, where the servicemen triggered explosives.

Russia’s Defense Ministry announced on August 4 that Baksheyevka had come under Russian control. Troops from the Sever Group of Forces took part in the operation.
