Russian air defenses intercepted and destroyed 475 Ukrainian fixed-wing drones during a 12-hour wave of attacks, the Russian Defense Ministry reported.

The strikes were repelled between 8:00 p.m. on August 4 and 8:00 a.m. on August 5.

Drones were shot down over the Belgorod, Bryansk, Voronezh, Kaluga, Kursk, Lipetsk, Oryol, Rostov, Ryazan, Saratov, Smolensk, Tula and Ulyanovsk regions.

Air defense units also destroyed unmanned aircraft over the Moscow region, Crimea, Tatarstan and Krasnodar Territory, as well as above the Azov and Black seas.

Another 304 Ukrainian fixed-wing drones were intercepted between 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. on August 4. They were destroyed over the Belgorod, Bryansk, Kaluga, Kursk, Oryol and Tula regions, the Moscow region and the Black Sea.

The Belgorod Region faced the heaviest attacks. The Ukrainian Armed Forces struck the region 137 times over the past 24 hours, according to Acting Governor of the Belgorod Region Alexander Shuvayev.

The attacks affected the Alekseyevsky, Belgorodsky, Borisovsky, Valuysky, Veydelevsky, Volokonovsky, Grayvoronsky, Ivnyansky, Korochansky, Krasnoyaruzhsky, Rakityansky, Rovensky, Starooskolsky, Chernyansky and Shebekinsky districts.

Seven artillery attacks were recorded during that period, including strikes involving multiple-launch rocket systems. Explosive devices were dropped from drones in six other cases.

Air defense crews and other units involved in protecting the region shot down or suppressed 152 drones.

A woman who was seriously wounded during a missile attack on the Belgorodsky District on July 31 died in hospital. Shuvayev expressed condolences to her family and loved ones.

Another 18 people were injured in the Belgorodsky, Borisovsky, Grayvoronsky, Korochansky, Krasnoyaruzhsky and Shebekinsky districts. Five Emergency Situations Ministry employees were among the wounded. Doctors described the condition of three victims as serious.
