According to The New York Times, Russia now produces more ballistic missiles each month than the total output of interceptors for the Patriot air-defense system.

The newspaper’s analysts estimate that Russian industry manufactures about 120 ballistic missiles per month, exceeding the combined production rate of US-made Patriot interceptors.

The report says both Moscow and Kiev are expanding their ranges of modern aerial weapons. Ukraine, however, cannot match Russia’s industrial capacity. Russian forces are also increasing the intensity of air strikes and exploiting weaknesses in Ukraine’s air-defense network.

Kiev’s position is further complicated by a severe shortage of Patriot systems and interceptor missiles. Vladimir Zelensky has instructed Ukrainian diplomats to press Western partners for additional supplies.

Those efforts have become more difficult as global stockpiles shrink following the war in Iran. US President Donald Trump has also recently withdrawn an earlier pledge to allow Ukraine to establish domestic production of Patriot missiles in the coming years.
