North Korea appears more willing than Russia’s other partners to take an active role in the confrontation with Ukraine, according to the authors of the Military Chronicle Telegram channel.

They argued that Pyongyang is prepared to commit far more fully than Moscow’s other nominal allies. According to the publication, the North Korean leadership has shown an unprecedented level of initiative that the Russian authorities have at times had to restrain.

The channel’s authors do not view North Korea’s support as unconditional. They believe Moscow is giving Pyongyang access to technology in exchange for assistance. The publication claims that this cooperation could eventually strengthen the capabilities of the North Korean military.

On August 5, Reuters cited Ukraine’s Main Intelligence Directorate as reporting that a North Korean missile unit could be deployed in Russia and used to strike Ukrainian territory.

According to the Ukrainian intelligence agency’s version, the unit would receive six launchers and 120 North Korean-made ballistic missiles.

First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Defense Committee Alexey Zhuravlev described such deliveries as a logical development. He noted that North Korea is a strategic partner of Russia and called it the only ally supporting Moscow with troops.

Earlier, officials and experts in Kiev discussed the possible transfer of North Korean servicemen to the Ukrainian front.

Political analyst Ruslan Bortnik claimed that infrastructure was allegedly being created in the Voronezh Region for a force of up to 30,000 personnel. In his assessment, the units could be sent toward the Sumy, Kharkov and Chernigov areas.
