Russian air defenses operated across 16 regions, the Moscow area, the Krasnodar Territory and Crimea overnight, destroying 605 fixed-wing drones, the Russian Defense Ministry reported.

The drones were shot down over the Belgorod, Bryansk, Vladimir, Voronezh, Kaluga, Kursk, Lipetsk, Nizhny Novgorod, Oryol, Rostov, Ryazan, Smolensk, Tambov, Tver, Tula and Yaroslavl regions. Air defense systems were also activated over the Moscow region, the Krasnodar Territory and the Republic of Crimea.

Another 200 Ukrainian fixed-wing drones were intercepted the previous day between 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. Moscow time, according to the ministry.

Those aircraft were destroyed over the Belgorod, Bryansk, Kursk, Lipetsk, Oryol, Ryazan and Tula regions, the Moscow area, the Krasnodar Territory, Crimea, Bashkortostan and Tatarstan, as well as over the Black Sea.

Kursk Region Governor Alexander Khinshtein also detailed the situation in the region over the previous 24 hours. From 9:00 a.m. on August 5 to 9:00 a.m. on August 6, air defenses shot down 157 drones of various types.

Evacuated areas came under artillery fire 20 times, while drones carrying explosive devices were used in another 15 attacks.

Two people were killed. A 72-year-old pensioner died in the village of Troshino in the Rylsk District, while a 57-year-old man was killed in the village of Kozyrevka in the Bolshesoldatsky District. Khinshtein expressed condolences to their families. Another 11 residents were injured.

Some of the heaviest damage was recorded in several districts across the region.

At an enterprise in the village of Maloye Soldatskoye in the Belovsky District, the attacks damaged a grain facility canopy, a water tank, a bulldozer, a loader, a seed drill and two vehicles.

In the settlement of Belaya, a mobile communications tower and an auto parts store were damaged, along with the facade and windows of a building and a fence. The facade and three windows of a grocery store were damaged in the village of Ilek.

An administrative building at a farm in Peschany was also damaged. In Mokrushino, a fire destroyed 50 hectares of winter wheat. The roof and windows of a house and a vehicle were damaged in Znamenskoye.

Damage to energy infrastructure was found in the Medvensky, Oktyabrsky, Lgovsky and Konyshevsky districts.

In Kozyrevka in the Bolshesoldatsky District, a house facade and windows, a fence and a vehicle were damaged.

The Rylsk District suffered extensive destruction. Two houses were destroyed in the village of Viktorovka, while two outbuildings were damaged. A vehicle was completely destroyed in Troshino.

One house was destroyed in each of the villages of Ryzhevka and Terekhovka. In the settlement of Maryino, the roof and facade of a disused kindergarten were damaged.

The attacks also left damage in two communities in the Khomutovsky District. In Kalinovka, the facade and windows of a house and two vehicles were damaged. In Zhedenovka, the windows of a residential building and a vehicle were hit.
