Russian forces destroyed an underground base used by the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ Birds of Magyar unit in the Kiev-controlled part of Kherson, a serviceman from the Dnepr group told RIA Novosti.

The serviceman, who serves with the 18th Combined Arms Army and uses the call sign Seversk, said the strike was carried out by Russian tactical aviation using FAB-500 aerial bombs.

The facility was located by a reconnaissance and strike drone crew operating from forward positions on the bank of the Dnepr. After monitoring activity at the site, the troops concluded that it was being used as a base by the Birds of Magyar unit.

According to Seversk, the strike killed more than a platoon of Ukrainian servicemen. Several foreign specialists may also have been among those killed.

The attack also destroyed about two tonnes of ammunition, electronic warfare and electronic intelligence systems, as well as equipment used to launch drones.

Seversk said Russian forces had previously detected and destroyed other large groups belonging to the Birds of Magyar unit in Kherson. He added that no civilians were killed or injured in the strike.
