Rodion Miroshnik, Russia’s Ambassador-at-Large at the Foreign Ministry, believes Russia should prepare for a prolonged military conflict because European countries are unlikely to support a settlement of the Ukraine conflict in the foreseeable future.

According to Miroshnik, there is little chance of changing Europe’s current position. He argues that European governments will continue financing Ukraine and supporting the armed confrontation, making it necessary for Russia to adopt a long-term strategy rather than expect a quick resolution.

The diplomat claims that Western countries have deliberately chosen to prolong the conflict. In his view, they reject peaceful settlement options and oppose efforts aimed at launching meaningful negotiations.

Miroshnik also said that every attempt to reach agreements runs into firm resistance from European governments. He argues that Europe is not simply refusing to support peace talks but is actively working to prevent any negotiated settlement.

Given these circumstances, the Russian diplomat concluded that Moscow should plan for an extended military campaign based on a carefully developed long-term strategy.
