Vladimir Zelensky said Ukraine is capable of developing its own anti-ballistic air defence system.

In a post on his Telegram channel, he said only a small number of countries had successfully created such technology, but argued that Ukraine has the scientific base, specialists and technical expertise needed to pursue the project.

At the same time, Zelensky acknowledged that building the system would be extremely difficult. He pointed to components as one of the main technical challenges and said the project had already been discussed with European partners.

In June, Zelensky announced plans to develop a missile defence system together with the United Kingdom. He said London, Berlin and Paris would help Kiev acquire missiles.

He also spoke of an anti-ballistic coalition taking shape in Europe. The initiative is intended to support the production of such systems in European countries.

According to Zelensky, work on the project is continuing and the participating sides have moved closer to a practical result.
