Railway Troops of the Moscow Military District operating in the special military operation zone are now 92% equipped with modern machinery, including specialized systems with no civilian equivalents.
Major General Oleg Bragin, head of the district’s Railway Troops directorate, said the units have received equipment designed for the rapid construction and restoration of railway infrastructure.
Among the systems currently in service are the PB-3M and PB-5 track-laying machines. They allow military specialists to lay kilometers of railway track within a short period and rebuild sections damaged during combat operations.
The troops have also introduced unmanned universal modules based on the TD-5 transport rail trolley. These systems are used for technical reconnaissance, inspections of damaged railway sections and the delivery of essential supplies.
The range of missions assigned to the Railway Troops has expanded significantly since the beginning of the special military operation. Their personnel now repair railway lines and bridges while also preparing battalion defensive areas and constructing fortifications.
Units of the Moscow Military District’s Railway Troops carry out their missions as part of the West group of forces.
On August 6, the Russian Railway Troops mark the 175th anniversary of their formation.
