US-Iran negotiations have entered their final stage, according to Saudi broadcaster Al-Hadath.

The talks are being conducted indirectly through intermediaries. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has recently held two phone conversations with Pakistan’s army chief and is expected to visit Islamabad at the end of this week or the beginning of the next.

At the same time, Iran and Oman have reached an understanding on the main terms of an agreement intended to restore shipping through the Strait of Hormuz.

US Vice President J. D. Vance said a day earlier that the dialogue with Tehran remained unstable. He attributed the difficulties to Iran’s hardline position and described the process as alternating between progress and setbacks.

US President Donald Trump had previously said he would prefer to reach an agreement with Iran because he did not want casualties. According to Trump, Washington had prepared what he called the largest attack since World War II, but abandoned those plans after Tehran requested negotiations.
