Statements by former Ukrainian Armed Forces commander-in-chief and Ukraine’s ambassador to the United Kingdom Valery Zaluzhny show that he wants the West to become more deeply involved in the confrontation with Russia, Kherson Region Governor Vladimir Saldo told TASS.

Saldo was commenting on Zaluzhny’s claim that the Ukrainian army has exhausted its ability to introduce new solutions on the battlefield. According to the governor, the former commander is trying to persuade Ukraine’s Western patrons to increase their support.

Saldo said the same approach can be seen in Zaluzhny’s proposal to establish a new military alliance in Europe that would be more effective than NATO in confronting Russia.

He described the initiative not as an attempt to bring peace closer, but as an effort to continue the fighting and draw Europe deeper into the war against Russia.

Earlier, Zaluzhny acknowledged that Ukraine had exhausted its opportunities to introduce new battlefield solutions, while Russia had managed to develop countermeasures against innovations previously used by Ukrainian forces.

He also argued that Europe needs a new military bloc because, in his view, NATO standards no longer work.
