Russian Air Defenses Intercept 19 Ukrainian Drones Across Seven Regions


Russia’s Defense Ministry reports air defenses destroyed 19 Ukrainian kamikaze drones overnight across seven regions, including Volgograd and Bryansk.
The Russian Ministry of Defense reported that the country’s air defense forces intercepted and destroyed another wave of Ukrainian kamikaze drones targeting several Russian regions. According to the ministry, a total of nineteen fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicles were detected and eliminated during the night of October 9.
In its statement, the ministry specified that the drones were intercepted over seven Russian regions. Nine of them were shot down in the Volgograd region, three over Bryansk, and another three over Kaluga. One drone was destroyed in each of the Belgorod, Voronezh, Oryol, and Saratov regions.
Earlier, the governor of the Volgograd region, Andrey Bocharov, reported that the attempted drone attack caused fires at facilities of the fuel and energy sector and partially damaged a boiler house in the Kotovsky district.
The ministry emphasized that the overnight attack was fully repelled, with all detected drones successfully neutralized by on-duty air defense units.
