Russian forces have taken control of the village of Ivanovka in the Vovchansk district of Ukraine’s Kharkiv Region. Russia’s Defense Ministry stated that assault units of the 126th Motorized Rifle Regiment from the 71st Guards Motorized Rifle Division, part of the Sever Group of Forces, seized the settlement after pushing out units of Ukraine’s 159th Separate Mechanized Brigade.

According to the ministry, Ukrainian forces attempted just a day earlier to reinforce the Ivanovka garrison by deploying a group of instructors from the same brigade. The advance detachment was reportedly destroyed on the approaches to the village, while the remaining troops retreated deeper into Ukrainian-controlled territory.

The capture of Ivanovka is expected to expand the security buffer zone in the Kharkiv Region. It also complicates the situation for Ukrainian forces operating in the northeastern part of the Vovchansk district by reducing their available withdrawal routes.

During the night of August 8, Russian forces also launched a large-scale precision strike using ground-based long-range weapons against military-industrial infrastructure in Kyiv.

According to Russia’s Defense Ministry, one of the targets was the Kyiv-111 industrial facility, which manufactures components for FP-5 Flamingo ground-launched cruise missiles. Another strike hit the Kyiv-3 fuel storage depot, which the ministry said had been regularly supplying fuel products to the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
