Russian forces have taken control of Vasyutinskoye and Toretskoye in the Donetsk People’s Republic, according to the Russian Defense Ministry’s August 9 update on the course of the military operation in Ukraine.
The ministry said units from Russia’s South group of forces captured Vasyutinskoye. It also reported strikes on Ukrainian formations near Belokuzminovka, Druzhkovka, Kramatorsk, Nikonorovka and Slavyansk.
Toretskoye, according to the same report, came under the control of Russia’s Center group of forces. Russian strikes were also carried out near Gruzskoye, Dobropolye, Novogrigorovka and Svyatogorovka in the DPR, as well as Ivanovka in the Dnepropetrovsk region.
The Defense Ministry also reported strikes on fuel, energy and transport infrastructure used by Ukrainian forces. A military airfield and locations housing Ukrainian servicemen and foreign mercenaries were also hit.
Russian air-defense systems shot down ten guided aerial bombs, four HIMARS rockets and 970 fixed-wing drones launched by Ukrainian forces over the past day, according to the ministry.
The Russian Defense Ministry estimated Ukrainian military losses across the areas of operation of Russian force groups at around 1,445 servicemen over the same period.
