A Russian strike hit a Kromberg & Schubert automotive components plant in Zhitomir, according to military correspondent Alexander Kots, who said the German-owned facility was destroyed in the attack.

Kromberg & Schubert is a major German supplier to the automotive industry specializing in onboard electrical systems.

Kots claimed that the Zhitomir plant also housed equipment suitable for producing drone components, as well as assembling and configuring unmanned aircraft. In an article for Komsomolskaya Pravda, he pointed to the company’s work with onboard networks, wiring, plastic components and electronics as the basis for his assessment.

Earlier, Zhitomir Region military administration head Vitaly Bunechko reported a Russian attack on the Kromberg & Schubert plant followed by several explosions. He said the facility had suspended operations indefinitely.

According to military sources cited in the report, several buildings at the plant were completely burned out.
