Kalashnikov Concern has completed state trials of the Kub-2 loitering munition. According to company chief Alan Lushnikov, the weapon has been supplied to the Russian Armed Forces since late 2025 and is now officially procured by the military.

Lushnikov told TASS that deliveries of the Kub-2 to Russian troops began at the end of last year. At the same time, the company completed state testing and assigned the weapon the O1 designation required for official military procurement.

The Kalashnikov chief said the Kub-2 incorporates artificial intelligence elements, a homing system and automatic target acquisition.

Detailed statistics on the munition’s combat performance are maintained by the Russian Ministry of Defence. Lushnikov said, however, that the number of targets already hit with the Kub-2 has reached the thousands.

He also pointed to major changes in the nature of combat operations in the special military operation zone. As battlefield requirements shift, some drone models are beginning to lose their relevance.
