Mikhail Drapaty, recently appointed commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, has deployed reserve units for counterattacks in the special military operation zone, military expert Andrey Marochko said on August 10.

According to Marochko, Ukrainian forces are combining previously used tactical methods with newer approaches during assault operations. The counterattacks are being carried out with support from armored vehicles and artillery.

He said Ukrainian units have significantly increased their activity at the tactical level and that more personnel from the commander’s reserve are now being committed to combat operations.

Marochko also reported that the Ukrainian military command had begun issuing orders for strikes on Russian territory using HIMARS systems, cruise missiles and aerial bombs.

The expert further claimed that Ukraine’s combined irrecoverable and sanitary losses reached 9,600 personnel over the past week. He said units of Russia’s Vostok troop grouping inflicted the heaviest manpower losses while operating in the Dnepropetrovsk and Zaporozhye regions.

Marochko also reported that Russian forces destroyed 6,500 drones, five unmanned boats, 34 sea vessels and five tanks during the same period.

According to his figures, Russian troops also destroyed nearly 800 combat vehicles, 77 field artillery guns and 54 Ukrainian electronic warfare stations over the past week.
