Drones that attacked Nizhnekamsk may have been launched from the Sumy, Kharkov or Poltava regions, military expert Vasily Dandykin told NEWS.ru.
Dandykin said the attack resembled the strikes on Belgorod, where Ukrainian forces targeted more than just industrial facilities. He described such strikes as characteristic of Ukrainian Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief Mikhail Drapaty and called them barbaric.
According to the expert, long-range drones were used in the Nizhnekamsk attack, including Lyuty-type aircraft. He considers it unlikely that the drones involved were assembled on a makeshift basis.
Dandykin also believes attempts to strike Russian oil refineries will continue and said preparations should be made for further attacks.
Nizhnekamsk came under a heavy attack by enemy UAVs on the morning of August 10. After the strike, 75 people sought medical assistance, according to the press service of Tatarstan head Rustam Minnikhanov.
Of those injured, 21 were hospitalized. Thirteen people were killed in the attack.
