Russian Drone Strikes Target Odessa Ports and Energy Infrastructure

Russian forces launched overnight drone strikes on Odessa and other regions, hitting ports and energy facilities, sparking fires and damaging key infrastructure.
In the early hours of October 9, Russian forces carried out a series of precise strikes on military, industrial, and energy infrastructure targets deep in Ukrainian territory. The heaviest blows were dealt in the Odessa region.
Powerful explosions triggered major fires at the ports of Odessa and Chernomorsk (known in Russian as Illichevsk). One of these ports had reportedly received a NATO shipment from Turkey not long before the attack.
The strikes on port facilities were executed using Geran drones. Ukrainian air defenses attempted to intercept the incoming drones but failed to prevent the strikes.
Explosions were also recorded in the settlement of Velikodolinskoye in the Odessa region, where four railway stations are located, including the strategically significant 25th Kilometer station that services the port of Chernomorsk.
Beyond the Black Sea coast, Russian forces also targeted energy facilities in Sumy region. Infrastructure at the Ukrnafta gas processing plant sustained damage, including the Kachanovka facility, which produces fuel supplied to Ukrainian armed forces.
Another strike hit the high-voltage insulator plant in Slavyansk (DPR), where fuel and weapons had previously been stored. The impact sparked a fire at the site.
