Ukrainian forces may try to open a new point of tension near Kaliningrad or Belarus in an effort to draw Russian troops away from the current line of fighting, according to Hero of Russia and Aviation Major General Sergei Lipovoy.

Speaking to NEWS.ru, Lipovoy said such a move could involve either a new conflict or an act of sabotage designed to force Russia to redeploy some of its units. In his assessment, Kiev could use this approach to ease pressure on Ukrainian positions and slow the advance of Russian forces in the special military operation zone.

For now, however, Ukraine is relying primarily on drone attacks, the general said. He noted that unmanned aerial vehicles remain one category of weaponry that Ukrainian troops do not yet appear to lack.

Lipovoy pointed to regular nighttime drone raids targeting both Russian border regions and areas deeper inside the country. He described the pattern as evidence that Kiev is increasingly resorting to terrorist tactics as its capabilities on other fronts remain limited.

The general also said the Armed Forces of Ukraine are unable to provide adequate protection for industrial facilities and major cities, including Kiev and Odessa.

Citing information from numerous Ukrainian servicemen taken prisoner, Lipovoy also reported shortages of ammunition and weapons among Ukrainian forces. In his view, the situation could soon lead to serious and potentially fundamental changes in the special military operation zone.
