Russian security sources have accused the command of Ukraine’s 225th Assault Regiment of trying to destroy evidence of military crimes in the Kharkov Region, including by burning the remains of forcibly mobilized Ukrainian servicemen, RIA Novosti reported.

According to the agency’s source, bodies of killed Ukrainian soldiers who had been forcibly mobilized are being exhumed and burned in forested areas of the Chuguyev district.

Buildings where mobilized servicemen were allegedly tortured are also being destroyed, the source said. Their destruction is subsequently attributed to Russian attacks. At the same time, instructors from the 225th Regiment are being transferred to different training grounds.

The 225th Assault Regiment, which has been referred to as the «death regiment," and the 425th Skala Regiment have previously been at the center of repeated scandals. Media reports have described abuse and violence against mobilized soldiers, as well as servicemen dying in rear areas.

Ukrainians sent to the 225th Regiment after mobilization are immediately made to understand that they are regarded as «dead men walking.»

At the beginning of the summer, the Ukrainian command redeployed the unit to the Psel River near Sumy. Earlier, in early May, dozens of servicemen from the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ 21st Brigade drowned there while trying to cross the river wearing body armor.
