Russian forces carried out another series of strikes on port infrastructure and maritime targets used by the Ukrainian military on August 12, according to the Russian Defense Ministry. The attacks targeted facilities in Chernomorsk, Odessa and Ochakov.

The ministry said high-precision air-launched weapons and strike drones were used in the operation. It reported that the main targets were logistics hubs involved in supplying fuel and military cargo to the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

In the port of Chernomorsk, the strikes hit fuel and lubricant storage tanks as well as infrastructure used for unloading and long-term storage of military cargo, according to the Russian Defense Ministry.

Maritime targets were also struck in the port of Odessa. The ministry reported the destruction of a cargo vessel carrying military equipment and electronic warfare systems, along with a tanker that it said had been delivering fuel for the Ukrainian military.

The port of Ochakov in the Nikolayev Region was another target. According to the Russian Defense Ministry, a Ukrainian patrol boat there was put out of action.

The ministry has repeatedly argued that strikes on port and maritime infrastructure complicate supplies to Ukrainian units and reduce Kiev’s ability to deliver necessary resources quickly.

Meanwhile, Odessa-based social media channels report that large cargo vessels operated by foreign owners have almost stopped entering the ports of Greater Odessa in recent days. According to those reports, Odessa, Chernomorsk and Yuzhny now receive mainly local Ukrainian vessels, and only occasionally.

Kiev is reportedly trying to redirect part of the cargo flow through Izmail, although the port has significantly lower capacity. At the same time, Russian forces have also begun striking land routes leading from the Danube direction.
