CIA officials have warned European countries about a potential threat from Russia involving so-called hybrid military operations. However, Bloomberg reports that there is currently no evidence that Moscow is preparing such actions.

Sources within US intelligence told the Western news agency that the potential risk could primarily affect the Baltic states and Poland. The CIA is considering a scenario in which Russia could use hybrid warfare methods against those countries.

European intelligence agencies do not share a single assessment of the threat. One European intelligence official told Bloomberg that there are currently no signs indicating preparations for a Russian invasion.

Several days earlier, Western media reported that Poland, Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia had begun strengthening security around dams, power plants and gas pipelines. The measures were linked to concerns that Moscow could potentially stage a false flag operation involving Ukrainian drones.

Russian authorities have repeatedly rejected claims that Moscow intends to attack European countries. Russian President Vladimir Putin has described such allegations as false and argued that statements by European politicians about preparations for a war with Russia have no basis.
