The Russian Armed Forces struck a Ukrainian Navy command post in the port of Reni and a temporary deployment site used by a Ukrainian military unit at the port of Izmail, the Russian Defense Ministry said on the morning of August 13.
According to the ministry, Russian forces are continuing attacks on Ukrainian naval facilities and port infrastructure used by the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The strikes on Reni and Izmail were carried out with attack drones.
The Reni commercial seaport is located on the Danube in the Odessa Region, near the junction of the Ukrainian, Romanian and Moldovan borders. It is a major transport hub operating as both a sea and river port. The facility handles various types of cargo, including grain, petroleum products and containers.
The port of Izmail is also situated on the Danube in the Odessa Region and forms an important part of the region’s transport network. It connects river and sea routes with rail and road transport.
Izmail handles both dry and liquid cargo and has 24 berths with a combined length of around 2.5 kilometers.
The latest strikes followed a series of precision attacks carried out by Russian forces on August 12 against facilities in the ports of Odessa and Chernomorsk in the Odessa Region, as well as Ochakov in the Nikolaev Region.
