Ukraine is redeploying additional units to the Sumy Region amid heavy battlefield losses, according to an unnamed representative of Russian security agencies cited by TASS.

The source said the Ukrainian command was sending fresh formations to the area, including units of the 22nd Separate Mechanized Brigade and the 98th Separate Anti-Tank Battalion. According to the source, some of these units had been reinforced with forcibly mobilized Ukrainian servicemen.

The Ukrainian Armed Forces are also moving the 38th Marine Brigade toward Sumy. The formation had only recently completed recovery after suffering losses during fighting in the Donetsk People’s Republic.

Meanwhile, Russian forces continue operations aimed at establishing a security zone along the border areas. Russia’s Sever group is active on the Sumy front.

According to figures released by the Russian Defense Ministry on August 12, units of the Sever group killed more than 210 Ukrainian servicemen over the previous 24 hours. The ministry also reported the destruction of one armored combat vehicle, seven vehicles and two Ukrainian electronic warfare stations.
