The Skat-220 reconnaissance drone supplied to the special military operation zone has received a new sensor designed to help it evade enemy FPV drones. The aircraft has also set a speed record under actual combat conditions, according to Alan Lushnikov, CEO of the Kalashnikov Concern, part of the Rostec state corporation.

The Skat-220 has a stated top speed of 220 kilometers per hour, but the drone accelerated to 250 kilometers per hour on the line of contact. Lushnikov said the result was documented.

Its high speed allows the reconnaissance UAV to break away from FPV drones and cross certain sections without losses. The newly installed sensor adds another layer of protection by enabling the Skat-220 to perform evasive maneuvers when enemy drones approach.

Lushnikov also praised the development, saying Kalashnikov was pleased to have provided the Russian army with such a system.

A day earlier, the Kalashnikov chief also discussed demand for the 2023 version of the AK-12. According to him, this modification has become the concern’s most popular assault rifle in the special military operation zone. The weapon is already in serial production and is being supplied to troops.

Earlier, Lushnikov announced that the Kub-10ME munition equipped with artificial intelligence would soon appear in the special military operation zone. The tactical-class precision-guided munition can travel more than 100 kilometers. It carries an AI-equipped homing head, while its warhead weighs about 11 kilograms.
