Between August 8 and 14, the Russian Armed Forces carried out strikes on 15 vessels that were operating in support of the Ukrainian military, according to the Russian Defense Ministry. Several types of vessels were hit, including a tanker and dry cargo ships.

According to the ministry’s weekly report, Russian forces simultaneously struck Ukrainian seaport infrastructure. The targets included facilities used for receiving, unloading and storing military cargo, as well as fuel and lubricants intended for the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

Over the seven-day period, the Russian Defense Ministry reported strikes on seven dry cargo ships, one tanker and two tugboats. Five patrol boats belonging to the Ukrainian Navy were also hit.

The total number of vessels struck during the week therefore reached 15. The Russian Defense Ministry stressed that all of them were operating in support of the Ukrainian military.

In recent weeks, Russian forces have intensified strikes on Ukraine’s maritime logistics and port infrastructure. As a result of daily attacks, Black Sea shipping serving Ukrainian interests has been almost completely paralyzed.

Against this backdrop, Bloomberg circulated reports claiming that Kyiv had conveyed a proposal to Moscow through intermediaries for a temporary ceasefire at sea. Russian authorities have not officially confirmed receiving such a proposal, but have indicated that, with a very high degree of probability, it would be rejected.
