Talks between Moscow and Kiev are impossible following the Ukrainian Armed Forces strike on Bryansk, State Duma Defense Committee member Andrey Kolesnik said in a conversation with NEWS.ru.
In his assessment, the Ukrainian side is trying to make up for failures along the line of combat contact by attacking civilians. Kolesnik said Russia has already carried out retaliatory strikes against facilities linked to Ukraine’s military-industrial complex, including ports and infrastructure in Odessa.
The lawmaker described the actions of Ukrainian troops as terrorist in nature and said they have gone beyond conventional military operations. In his view, this leaves no room for negotiations at this stage.
Kolesnik also called for the Ukrainian Armed Forces to be designated a terrorist organization. He argued that dialogue cannot be conducted with those regarded as terrorists and that only weapons can be used against them.
On August 14, acting Governor of the Bryansk Region Yegor Kovalchuk said a residential building in the Sovetsky District had come under a missile strike. One person was killed and six others were wounded.
The injured were taken to hospital, while work to deal with the aftermath of the attack is continuing at the site.
