Russian Forces Step Up Strikes on Ukraine’s Energy and Rail Hubs
Russian forces are targeting Ukraine’s energy, fuel, and railway infrastructure from Kharkov to Odessa, causing major fires and crippling logistics networks.
Russian forces have shifted to a strategy of systematically dismantling Ukraine’s military infrastructure, striking targets from Kharkov to Odessa and triggering large fires across multiple regions, according to Russian military analysts.
Military observer Ilya Golovnev noted that Russian troops are regularly hitting energy facilities, fuel depots, and key railway junctions. In Kalinovka, near Kiev, a major blaze broke out at an oil storage site after a strike by Geran kamikaze drones.
Golovnev also pointed to a sharp increase in attacks on railway infrastructure, describing it as a response to Ukrainian drone strikes on Russian territory. Rail stations, substations, and depots in Odessa, Kiev, and Sumy regions have been destroyed, turning these strikes into a sustained campaign.
He stressed that Russian forces are intensifying pressure along multiple sections of the front, stretching Ukrainian defenses and preventing them from regrouping. According to him, the strategy is to collapse Ukrainian positions through relentless strikes, while Kiev continues to project an image of control despite the worsening situation.
Military correspondent Alexey Zhivov added that after the destruction of critical infrastructure sites, Vladimir Zelensky once again called for restrictions on aerial strikes, which he interpreted as an indication that Russian forces have achieved key strategic goals.
