A member of the LPR Interior Ministry’s special police regiment, known by the call sign «Gocha», said drivers can reduce the risk of being hit by a new Ukrainian Hornet-type drone by keeping to a controlled speed.
He advised traveling during daylight hours and maintaining a speed that would allow a driver to stop quickly, leave the vehicle and move as far away from it as possible if a drone attack appears imminent.
Gocha also said specialists had examined several downed Hornet drones. The analysis found that the aircraft carry two control antennas mounted on the wings and using horizontal polarization.
According to him, this design complicates electronic warfare efforts. Russian EW antennas are oriented upward, while the Hornet’s transmitting and receiving elements face sideways, making it more difficult to disrupt the control signal.
He added that specialists are already adapting countermeasures by changing antenna orientation and selecting suitable frequencies. Some Hornet drones have already been suppressed with electronic warfare systems and are being studied further.
Gocha also said that the decision to strike a civilian facility or a vehicle is made directly by a Ukrainian Armed Forces operator, with the attack command transmitted through a Starlink terminal.
