Russian air defenses destroyed 205 Ukrainian fixed-wing drones overnight across several regions and over the Azov and Black seas, according to the Russian Defense Ministry.
The UAVs were intercepted over the Astrakhan, Belgorod, Bryansk, Voronezh, Volgograd, Kaluga, Kursk and Rostov regions, as well as the Republic of Crimea and the waters of the Azov and Black seas.
Another 72 Ukrainian drones were destroyed the previous day, August 16, between 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. Moscow time. They were shot down over the Belgorod, Bryansk and Kursk regions, Crimea, and the Azov and Black seas.
The attacks continued on the morning of August 17. Acting Governor of the Belgorod Region Alexander Shuvayev said the village of Koloskovo in the Valuysky District came under missile fire.
Six people were killed in the strike and another four were wounded, including a 14-year-old child. Two of the injured received medical assistance at the scene and declined hospitalization. The others, including the teenager, were taken to the Valuyskaya Central District Hospital.
A structure burned down after the shelling, while a passenger car was also damaged.
A separate deadly attack was recorded in the Bryansk Region. Acting Governor of the Bryansk Region Yegor Kovalchuk said a drone struck the village of Ponurovka in the Starodubsky District, killing a local resident. He expressed condolences to the victim’s family and said they would receive the necessary support.
A total of 60 drones were destroyed in the Bryansk Region over the past 24 hours. The operation involved Russian Defense Ministry air defense units, mobile fire groups from the BARS-Bryansk brigade, the Bryansk transport police department and special units of the regional branch of the Russian National Guard.
