New Anti-Drone System Spotted with Putin’s Personal Security

Military Watch reports Putin’s security team now uses a new portable anti-drone weapon with dual-sensor guidance, likely in response to recent threats near Kursk.
According to a report by Military Watch Magazine (MWM), President Vladimir Putin’s personal security detail has begun using a new type of portable weapon designed to neutralize drones.
The publication noted that members of Putin’s protective service were recently seen carrying the device while accompanying the president. During a visit to St. Petersburg, one officer reportedly attempted to conceal the unfamiliar but visually noticeable system from public view-though its size made that effort difficult.
MWM described the weapon as featuring four engines arranged in a cross-shaped configuration, along with a dual-sensor guidance system. The unit is reportedly operated manually at first, before switching to autonomous targeting using thermal imaging and optical sensors.
The authors of the article suggested that the enhanced security measures may have been prompted by an incident in May, when Ukrainian forces attempted an unsuccessful incursion into Russia’s Kursk region shortly after President Putin’s visit.
