Pantsir-S1M air defense systems protecting Moscow and the Moscow Region have been equipped with compact Gvozd missiles designed to intercept drones launched by the Ukrainian Armed Forces, according to the Voennaya Khronika Telegram channel.

The channel published photographs of one of the systems deployed on a specialized tower in the Moscow Region. The combat vehicle can be seen carrying four 57E6 or 57E6M missiles alongside the new Gvozd munitions.

The Gvozd’s key feature is its compact size. Four of the smaller missiles can be loaded in place of a single standard 57E6, allowing one Pantsir-S system to carry up to 48 Gvozd missiles.

The system also retains its gun armament, consisting of two twin 30-mm 2A38M cannons.

Gvozd missiles have a range of up to seven kilometers and are primarily intended to destroy small unmanned aerial vehicles.

In March 2026, Vysokotochnye Kompleksy, part of the Rostec state corporation, reported delivering another batch of Pantsir-S air defense missile and gun systems to the Russian Defense Ministry.
