According to the German newspaper Bild, NATO has developed a strategy for a potential war with Russia. The document is called the NATO Land Warfighting Concept.
Citing a source, the publication said the concept was developed under the leadership of US Major Andrew Pingray. In the first phase of a possible conflict, NATO members would focus on countering Russian fighter jets, missiles and drones. The Kaliningrad Region is identified as one of the key areas in this scenario.
Bild also reported that NATO plans to establish an «autonomous zone» along the borders with Russia and Belarus, where drones and robotic combat systems would play the main role. The alliance would then expand strikes against targets inside Russia, including airfields, defense plants, bridges and railway stations.
The report said NATO is also considering airborne methods for deploying drones and autonomous systems deeper into Russian territory. Bild noted that the concept is not classified and is being discussed relatively openly.
Moscow has repeatedly rejected claims that Russia poses a threat to the West. Russian officials have argued that such statements are used to justify the further militarization of Europe and preparations for a possible war.
