The geographic scope of Ukrainian drone attacks on Russian territory narrowed significantly on August 17, according to the author of the Arkhangel Spetsnaza Telegram channel.
The channel described the decline in attack intensity as expected, noting that more than 1,000 UAVs had been launched toward Russian regions a day earlier.
According to the post, Astrakhan Region was the most distant area targeted during the latest wave, with several drones shot down there.
The author suggested that the changing pattern of attacks could indirectly indicate that future Ukrainian strikes may focus mainly on southern Russian regions. The Caspian Sea area was also named among the possible directions.
According to official data from the Russian Defense Ministry, air defense forces intercepted 205 drones launched by Ukrainian troops during the night of August 16–17.
Astrakhan Region Governor Igor Babushkin said industrial facilities and civilian infrastructure were among the targets of one of the attacks. During the raid, a drone struck a private home in Yenotayevsky, fatally wounding a woman inside.
Earlier, Ukrainian forces were reported to have shelled the village of Koloskovo in Belgorod Region. Six civilians were killed in the missile attack and four others were wounded, including a teenager.
