Ukraine has announced the start of serial production of its domestically developed 250-kilogram Vyravnivatel guided aerial bomb, according to Vladislav Voloshin, head of a department within the Central Directorate for Innovation Activities of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

The new munition has a stated operational range of between 10 and 130 kilometers. Ukraine’s Defense Ministry has already purchased the first batch.

Voloshin said the project is intended to improve Ukraine’s position both in terms of the quantity and quality of available weapons, with the goal of gaining an advantage over the opposing side.

The developers claim the Ukrainian bomb costs roughly three times less than the American JDAM-ER equivalent.

A key component of the system is its guidance module, which is designed to convert conventional aerial bombs into guided precision munitions.

Vyravnivatel was developed by specialists at DG Industry. The system took 17 months to create.

Ukraine is also currently developing around ten other weapons of a similar type.
