The Russian Defense Ministry said the Russian army had taken control of Orekhovatka and Krasnopolye. Although the two villages are located on different sectors of the front, both are part of the same broader operational area around the Slavyansk-Kramatorsk agglomeration and Dobropolye.
According to the Telegram channel Voyennaya Khronika, securing positions in Orekhovatka gives Russian forces further opportunities to advance toward the northeastern approaches to Slavyansk. At the same time, the depth of Ukrainian defenses in front of the agglomeration is being reduced. The channel believes this could eventually allow Russian troops to reach the city while suppressing the most dangerous Ukrainian defensive strongpoints.
Krasnopolye, meanwhile, lies south of Dobropolye. Voyennaya Khronika says control of the settlement further reduces the depth of Ukrainian defenses on the southern approaches to the city. Dobropolye itself remains one of the key positions on this section of the front.
The channel reported that the Ukrainian side had been forced to move reserves into the area, but said this had only partially affected the situation. According to its assessment, the Russian advance continued and fighting spread toward the Dobropolye-Kramatorsk highway.
Voyennaya Khronika also noted that Slavyansk and Kramatorsk effectively form a single defensive line for the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Against that background, simultaneous Russian operations on several axes may be aimed at stretching Ukrainian reserves and disrupting the defensive system around the agglomeration.
