Ukraine has added the new long-range Dovbush T40 drone to its arsenal, with the aircraft already used in attacks on targets inside Russia. The UAV was among the drones employed during the latest attacks on Novorossiysk.

Ukraine’s Defense Ministry has approved the aircraft for service with the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ Unmanned Systems Forces. Developed in Ukraine, the fixed-wing drone is designed for long-distance missions and has a stated operational range of around 2,000 kilometers. During its presentation, developers said its capabilities would allow it to reach Siberia.

The Dovbush T40 is designed for several roles, including strikes, deep reconnaissance and fire adjustment. According to its stated specifications, the drone can remain airborne for almost 24 hours, Voennoye Obozreniye writes.

For attacks deep inside Russian territory, the aircraft can operate as a kamikaze drone. Along the line of contact, it can instead be used to drop munitions.

The UAV uses a twin-boom configuration. Its central fuselage pod sits low beneath a higher-mounted wing, while the tail features a V-shaped design. The wingspan reaches five meters.

The Dovbush T40 is powered by a piston engine driving a pusher propeller mounted at the rear. No figures have been released for its payload capacity.

Its developers also claim the drone has a low radar signature, presenting reduced radar visibility as another advantage when carrying out attacks on Russian territory.
