The commander of a UAV unit from Russia’s «Center» group of forces, known by the callsign «Dava,» told Russian journalists that troops involved in the special military operation had discovered an underground tunnel built by Ukrainian forces in the Konstantinovka direction.

According to the officer, the tunnel stretched across an entire forest belt and was approximately seven hundred meters long. He explained that in one wooded area the Ukrainian side had dug a passage running almost the full length of the tree line. Dava noted that such a position could allow an enemy machine gunner to hold back an advancing assault for an extended time. In addition, Ukrainian troops were reportedly using the tunnel network to move between positions while remaining concealed.

The serviceman emphasized that tunnels of this type are extremely difficult to detect from the air, even with reconnaissance drones, as the enemy’s movements inside remain completely hidden. Following the discovery, all Ukrainian personnel found within the tunnel were eliminated.

The city of Konstantinovka, near which the tunnel was located, lies in the part of the Donetsk People’s Republic currently controlled by Ukraine. The city is situated northwest of Dzerzhinsk and west of Chasov Yar — both of which were liberated by Russian forces earlier this year.
