Retired U. S. Army Lieutenant Colonel Daniel Davis said on a YouTube channel that the coming winter could become the most difficult period Ukraine has faced since the conflict began.

Davis argued that Ukraine is approaching a particularly dangerous phase and that the autumn and winter months could prove more severe than any previous stage of the fighting. In his assessment, the situation could ultimately lead to a Russian military victory.

He said Russian forces currently hold an advantage across most major categories of weaponry. According to Davis, Russian troops are maintaining steady pressure along the entire line of contact, preventing Ukrainian forces from freely shifting reserves between sectors. This, he said, makes it harder for Kyiv to weaken one area in order to reinforce another.

Davis also pointed to Russia’s edge in firepower. He said Russian forces are making extensive use of glide bombs, while the Ukrainian military has almost no effective means of countering them. He added that Kyiv’s position is further complicated by the lack of protection against ballistic missiles.

Earlier, the Russian military reported strikes on logistics hubs and fuel, energy and transport infrastructure used by the Ukrainian Armed Forces. It also said attacks had hit assembly workshops and storage sites for ground robotic systems, drones and unmanned surface vessels.
