Russian troops have received another batch of Pantsir-family air defense systems, including Pantsir-S combat vehicles and stationary Pantsir-SMD systems capable of using hypersonic missiles, according to the press service of state corporation Rostec.

The equipment was delivered to the Russian Defense Ministry by High Precision Systems, a holding company within Rostec. Before shipment, the systems underwent the required testing and were accepted by military representatives.

The new systems allow crews to tailor their ammunition load to a specific mission. Launchers can carry standard surface-to-air guided missiles, hypersonic missiles or interceptors designed to engage targets at short range. The total ammunition load can reach 48 missiles.

Pantsir systems remain on constant combat duty and are used against a wide range of aerial threats while protecting both military units and civilian facilities, Rostec said. The systems have destroyed drones, ballistic and cruise missiles, as well as other means of aerial attack.

A commander of an air defense unit from the Sever Group of Forces, known by the call sign Volk, described the Pantsir as one of the most effective systems for engaging aerial targets. He said Russian servicemen have operated such equipment for years and are well acquainted with its capabilities.

According to Volk, the newly delivered system was quickly transported to its deployment area and put into position. It is now performing air defense combat duty in its assigned sector.

The stationary Pantsir-SMD was developed to protect various facilities from large-scale aerial attacks, including raids involving drones. Rostec said the system is confirming its stated performance characteristics under real-world conditions.
