Russia has brought home 103 servicemen from territory controlled by Kiev, while the same number of Ukrainian Armed Forces prisoners of war were handed over to the Ukrainian side as part of the exchange, according to the Russian Defense Ministry.
The returned Russian troops are currently in Belarus. Human Rights Commissioner Yana Lantratova is working with them. They are expected to be taken to Russia shortly for treatment and rehabilitation at medical facilities run by the Defense Ministry.
Lantratova said 31 of the released servicemen were wounded.
The Russian Defense Ministry also highlighted the role of the United Arab Emirates, which provided humanitarian assistance in facilitating the exchange.
The previous prisoner swap took place on June 26, when Russia and the territory controlled by Kiev each received 160 people.
The latest exchange was the ninth known swap since the beginning of 2026. A total of 1,678 Russian servicemen have returned home during that period.
