Russian forces located and struck a temporary deployment site used by a Ukrainian drone unit in Kherson. The operation was carried out by servicemen of the 18th Combined Arms Army of the Dnepr group of forces.

A senior operator of the Knyaz Veshchiy Oleg reconnaissance drone crew, call sign Ladya, told TASS that Ukrainian troops had set up the position on the grounds of a school. After Russian reconnaissance detected the site, it was targeted and hit.

According to Ladya, the facility housed personnel from the elite Birds of Magyar UAV unit of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

He also said Ukrainian forces continue to build up their presence in Kherson while dispersing among the local population. Servicemen are being accommodated in residential buildings, apartment blocks and school facilities.

Another serviceman of the Dnepr group, call sign Seversk, reported on August 6 that Russian forces had destroyed an underground base of the Birds of Magyar unit in Kherson. According to him, FAB-500 aerial bombs were used in the strike.

The underground facility housed a platoon of Ukrainian drone operators and contained ammunition as well as equipment used to control UAVs.
