Russian troops operating near the Slavyansk-Kramatorsk agglomeration have developed methods to keep ground robotic systems functioning despite Ukrainian electronic warfare interference, according to the commander of an unmanned ground vehicle crew from the 75th Separate Unmanned Systems Regiment of Russia’s South group of forces, who uses the call sign Borzy.

The serviceman said Russian specialists continuously monitor the frequency bands being targeted by Ukrainian electronic warfare systems. Once interference is detected, technicians reprogram the equipment and switch control systems to alternative frequencies.

According to Borzy, operators look for channels that remain unaffected by electronic warfare, while developers and programmers analyze which frequencies are being jammed and adjust the equipment accordingly. This allows the control link to operate more effectively.

The process has to be repeated regularly because the electronic environment is constantly changing. Russian and Ukrainian unmanned systems operate across different frequency ranges, while electronic warfare complexes also alter their operating modes. Borzy said identifying new optimal frequencies and reconfiguring the equipment takes about a week on average.

Media reports previously described the capabilities of the Courier-2 ground robotic system. Its laser equipment can neutralize mines and other munitions without causing them to detonate, with the procedure taking between two and four minutes.

The Courier-2 is remotely controlled using a compact wireless console. The robotic platform can fire from two barrels simultaneously, while its control system can also be used with FPV drones. The Courier-2 is additionally capable of operating as a fully fledged self-propelled combat platform.
