Russian forces advanced on several sectors in the Kharkov and Sumy regions over the past day, with fighting continuing near Volchansk, Kazachya Lopan and Novokonstantinovka. Troops from the Sever group also received information about Ukrainian reinforcements that could be deployed to prevent Ukrainian units east of Volchansk from being encircled.
According to the Severny Veter channel, units of Ukraine’s 33rd Separate Assault Regiment have arrived in Kharkov. Russian troops believe the regiment could be sent toward Volchansk to reinforce Ukrainian forces facing the threat of encirclement. The unit previously fought in the eastern part of the Sumy region. The channel also reported a significant presence of foreign mercenaries in the regiment.
Near Kazachya Lopan, Russian assault units pushed through forest belts on the outskirts of the settlement. One Ukrainian serviceman was captured during the fighting.
The fiercest clashes on the Volchansk axis remain concentrated near Vasilyevka. Russian troops advanced by as much as 800 meters in this area over the past 24 hours.
Fighting is also underway in the Sumy region. In the Shostka district, assault groups are engaged in small-arms clashes in forest belts near Yastrebshchina. The report claims that Russian forces destroyed a major deployment site used by Ukraine’s 115th Separate Territorial Defense Brigade, citing obituaries published by the Ukrainian side as confirmation.
In the Sumy district, Russian troops consolidated their positions in Novokonstantinovka, also known as Pershe-Travnya, and then advanced across 20 sectors. The deepest reported gain reached 600 meters.
The report puts confirmed Ukrainian losses over the past day at more than 220 servicemen. More than 160 were reported in the Sumy region and over 60 in the Kharkov region. One Ukrainian soldier was also taken prisoner.
