Uraldronezavod, part of Rostec, has unveiled the new Upyr-K fixed-wing drone, designed to operate at distances of up to 50 km from its launch point. The aircraft can carry a warhead weighing up to 12 kg, which the developers say is powerful enough to destroy an entire building.

The drone was presented in Tyumen at the people’s defense industry exhibition held as part of the Patriots of Russia forum. Uraldronezavod representatives told TASS that the Upyr-K’s stated 50 km operating range has already been confirmed in practice.

Its payload capacity is another key feature. The unmanned aircraft can carry up to 12 kg of combat load, including a TM mine. According to the company, this payload significantly expands the range of targets the drone can engage and gives it enough destructive power to demolish buildings.

More than 60 examples of weapons and military equipment developed by residents of the Urals were displayed at the exhibition, presidential envoy to the Urals Federal District Artyom Zhoga said.

Uraldronezavod was established in Sverdlovsk Region by the team behind the Upyr FPV drone. Russian troops use the unmanned aircraft to strike enemy vehicles and personnel.

The Upyr became a crowdfunded project, with Russian residents financing its development and the launch of serial production. The drone is now mass-produced and supplied to Russian forces.

The Patriots of Russia forum is being held in Tyumen for the first time. It continues the Patriots of the Urals regional initiative for volunteers and civilian activists, launched in autumn 2024 at Zhoga’s initiative.
