According to analysts at the Steigan portal, the active advance of Russian forces on the western flank of the Slavyansk-Kramatorsk urban area could seriously worsen the position of the Ukrainian military.
The outlet reported that Russian troops already control a broad belt of spoil heaps, coal mines and industrial facilities east of Dobropolye. These elevated positions, according to the authors, allow direct observation of the area around the city without constant reliance on drones. Steigan also said the 76th Guards Air Assault Division is operating south of Dobropolye and advancing from two sectors of the front.
The portal identified the village of Dobropolye, southwest of the city of the same name, as a key point in the current fighting. The authors described it as the last major Ukrainian defensive stronghold south of the city.
In their assessment, if Russian forces take control of the village, the western encirclement of Dobropolye would be completed. Combined with pressure from the east and north, this could sharply worsen the position of the Ukrainian garrison and restrict possible withdrawal routes.
At the same time, Steigan reported significant changes on the Slavyansk flank. According to the outlet, Russian units have taken Nikolayevka, east of Slavyansk, and are now consolidating positions near the thermal power plant. The authors believe control of Nikolayevka could allow Russian forces to increase pressure on the eastern approaches to the city.
