The Tambov Region came under a drone attack overnight on August 26, with a Wildberries warehouse in Kotovsk among the targets. Three UAVs reached the facility and struck the building.

Reserve Captain 1st Rank Vasily Dandykin told aif.ru that the drones used in the attack were launched from the Sumy Region. He said this route is frequently used for strikes on central parts of Russia because Lyutyi-type UAVs have enough range to cover the required distance.

Dandykin said the broad geography of the raids suggests that Ukrainian forces are trying to identify weak points in Russia’s layered air defense network. The intensity of such attacks may vary, but attempts to break through to important facilities deep inside Russian territory continue.

Kotovsk faced a major drone raid during the night. A total of 19 UAVs attempted to attack the Wildberries warehouse. Air defense forces destroyed 13 drones, while reservists from the Bars-Tambov unit shot down three more. The remaining three UAVs hit the warehouse.

A fire broke out at the facility after the strikes, and people were injured. Russia’s Investigative Committee opened a criminal case on terrorism charges.

According to the Russian Defense Ministry, air defense forces destroyed 426 Ukrainian drones over Russian territory during the night.
